The value of unpaid chores at home

A must-read article!  Click on link above. But before you do,  have a go at guessing these figures below…….

Question 1: If you were asked to calculate the value (in £££) per UK household, of unpaid work carried out at home over the course of a typical year, what might you say? In other words what’s the value of all the chores and family responsibilities that people do themselves rather than pay somebody else to do for them?

Question 2: And what would be the total value to the country?

Question 3:  And what percentage would that figure represent of the country’s national output (as measured by GDP)? A quarter? A third? 50%?
